Reflection on Blogger

My partner and my seminar facilitator have helped me expand my ideas some what farther by commenting on my blogs. Even though over this year the blog has given me a few ideas to use in the classroom, overall I have not gotten a lot out of the experience. Maybe as we do more blogging I will continue to get more information out of the experience. I hope that I will gather more ideas and be open to more ideas by using this blog. Do you think that it is possible that after another year of blogging I may recieve more from these blogs?

My progress with my learning goals is mostly obersavtions. I have seen some classroom management skills but I have not been able to practice them any. I have seen ways to handle children with disabilities that can get violent. Personally I have only delt with a few girls that do not listen to subsititutes. My PDS plan has been very helpful. The only changes I have made are in the order I do some things. It has been easier to do somethings when ever there is extra time and the people I need to observe have time. It has kept me on track to visually see what is needed to still be completely and how long I have left to complete it.

Digital Storytelling

One thing in my PDS that I have noticed this semester is that my mentor teacher has decided to make a science newspaper. Her class will give the newspaper to all the other students in the school. The newspaper will have their classes science projects in it. She is assigning her students to be reporters. I believe this will be a great way to track their writing skills and their learning skills through out the semester. It could be a go story also. This can be made a good story by relating to the listeners likes and wants.

Using images, audio, videos, and text might enhance my story telling becuse it helps relate to all learners. Students have different interest and putting all of them into one story telling can increase their interest in the story.

Reflection of my first semester as a tutor

While at my PDS I have spent time working with every student in my classroom. All 15 students have been a complete joy to be around. These students have really enjoyed the extra time I have spent with them. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups to help them on their reading skills. I have learned that often when a student falls behind it is because they have simply not been practicing what they have already learned and they are forgeting. Reading is built on previous knowledge. The students are more easily engaged when you have a connection with them. I have enjoyed making connections with these students by being there when they ask for help and showing them that I care about them. The students had diverse learning styles. I have learned that not all students will learn the same and I must adjust to them. Have you been able to find different learning styles in your PDS and how have you adjusted to help your students?

Blogging Possibilities

Blogging would be a good organizing tool to share information between classmates. It will be beneficial to know what others think about what we are doing in our program and in our PDS'. It will be a great tool to find information about classes we are all in and we can share what information we each find. It will also be a good way to keep in contact with administrators.I beleive that my blog will support my experiences by allowing feedback on my experiences and seeing what others are going through and if it realted to my experiences. We can share our experiences and help each other understand what we are going through.
